This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Podium Technologies("Podium," "we," "us," "our") collects through the Podium platform (the "Platform"), how we use it, and the choices you have. It forms part of, and should be read together with, our Terms and Conditions.
Organizer accounts. When you create an account, we collect your full name, email address, phone number, and business/event name. If you sign up or log in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google — we only store your name and email; we don't store or use your Google profile photo.
Payout details. If you request a payout, we collect the bank account details you provide, and a payout PIN (stored as a one-way hash — we cannot see or recover your actual PIN).
Voter information. Voting does not require creating an account. When you cast a paid vote, we collect the email address and phone number you enter at checkout, to send a receipt and to verify the transaction. Free votes may also record an email or phone number where needed to enforce one-vote-per-category limits.
Payment information. We do not collect or store your card details. Payments are handled entirely by our payment processor, Paystack — see Section 4.
Automatically collected data. We collect limited technical data such as IP address (used for rate-limiting and fraud prevention) and basic, aggregated usage analytics (pages viewed, general device/browser type). Our analytics provider does not use tracking cookies.
We process personal data to perform our contract with you (creating an account, processing a vote or payout), to comply with legal obligations, and based on our legitimate interest in operating a secure, fraud-resistant Platform. Where required, we rely on your consent — for example, when you choose to sign in with Google.
All payments are processed by Paystack. When you pay for votes, your card or bank details are entered directly on Paystack's secure checkout and are never transmitted to or stored on Podium's servers. Paystack's handling of your payment data is governed by Paystack's own Privacy Policy.
We share data only with the service providers needed to operate the Platform, each acting under their own privacy and security obligations:
We do not sell personal data to third parties.
We retain account and transaction data for as long as your account is active and afterward as needed to comply with legal, tax, and dispute-resolution obligations. You may request deletion of your account as described in Section 8, subject to records we're required to keep.
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your light/dark theme preference. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us at the email below. We'll respond within a reasonable time, subject to any records we're legally required to retain (such as transaction history for tax or dispute purposes).
The Platform is not directed at children. Making a payment on the Platform requires the user to be at least 18 years old, or to have the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian, as set out in our Terms.
We use industry-standard measures to protect personal data, including encrypted connections, hashed passwords and PINs, and database-level access controls. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted to the Platform.
Our infrastructure providers may process and store data outside Nigeria. Where this occurs, we rely on those providers' own security and compliance safeguards.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest version. Material changes will be communicated through the Platform or by email.
